“Mr Brown joined Botany Division in 1958 and
for 27 years has given much valued service as wage worker,
technician, technical officer and officer-in-charge of the Lincoln
gardens. This award acknowledges his contribution to the growth
and maintenance of the gardens in general and the Division’s
experimental facilities and records in particular.”

The 1985–1987 DSIR Botany Division Triennial report (p. 75) records that Ivor Brown received the Allan Mere in a special ceremony in 1985, a year before his retirement. This year differs from that stated in the awards book (1990).
